3 Things You Should Do Before Plastic Surgery

by Dylan Owens

You've found the best plastic surgeon in your area and you know what you want to have done, but how will you prepare for the big day? While many people do little to prepare for plastic surgery, showing up ready for your operation without a lot of preparation could pave the way for a tricky recovery. Here are three things you should do before plastic surgery.

1.    Arrange For Time Off Depending on the procedure you have scheduled, you may need anywhere from a few days to a few weeks off of work. Because every procedure is different, take the time to talk with your doctor about what to expect, how long you need to take off of work, and how to prepare for any issues that may come your way. Talk with your employer about needing time off, and keep in mind that you don't have to explain what you are having done. Instead, call it a medical issue and state that you need your privacy.

2.    Talk With Your Doctor About Your Medical History Every person is different, which means you may have challenges during your surgery or recovery that others won't have to deal with. On the flip side, some aspects of the operation may be easy for you.   When you talk with your physician about your medical history, be honest about the entire scope of your health. Mention if you use drugs, have struggled with addiction in the past, or don't tend to follow doctor's orders. By understanding your actual medical history and pattern of behavior, the doctor can more carefully customize your treatment.

3.    Find A Caretaker Another task to take care of before your surgery is finding a caretaker who can look after you the day of the procedure. Ask around to find friends or family members who are willing to take on the task, and ask them to clear their schedule the week of your surgery. Mention that you may need rides or help with normal household responsibilities, such as cooking and cleaning.

Remember, one of the most important parts your recovery will be listening carefully to your doctor, so consider taking notes during your pre-operative visits. Talk with your physician about what kind of recovery to expect, which medications you will be taking, and how others have managed their recovery. Try to get a good idea of what to expect, so there aren't a lot of surprises after your procedure.

About Me

Restoring My Complexion

A few years ago, I began experiencing red, itchy patches on my eyelids and forehead. I began applying moisturizer to my face at this time. Unfortunately, it didn’t help my condition. My trusted physician informed me I might be suffering from the skin disorder psoriasis. This caring individual prescribed a medicated cream for me. Thankfully, the cream soothed my itchy, inflamed skin. If you have an unexplained, skin condition that isn’t responding to home remedies, make visiting your doctor soon a priority. On this blog, I hope you will discover the most common types of skin conditions people seek professional treatment for. Enjoy!
