9 Natural Ways To Get Rid Of Acne

by Dylan Owens

Nothing can ruin your day quite like waking up with a pimple. It happens to everyone, but it can still be very embarrassing! Luckily, there are plenty of home remedies that you can use to get rid of your pimples without having to buy expensive skin products. Here is just a small selection of ways that you can get rid of your pimple problem.

1. Ice

Here's a solution you probably would never think of- simply holding ice for about a minute against your pimples can do wonders. Ice can help to reduce the swelling and redness of the skin, making the pimple less noticeable. It can also reduce pain for those pimples that won't stop aching.

2. Toothpaste

Toothpaste can clean more than just your teeth! Spread a little toothpaste over each of your pimples and leave it there for 30 minutes. When you wash your face, you should notice the swelling has started to go down.

3. Honey

Sticky sweet honey is one of the last things you might think to put on your face, but it can really help! Just leave it on for 30 minutes and wash your face with warm water.

4. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is an acidic substance that can help to clean your face and remove acne. Either take a slice of lemon and rub it gently on your face or use lemon juice from a bottle applied to a cotton swab. Leave the juice on for about an hour before washing for best results.

5. Orange Peels

Oranges are another fruit that you can use to help cure your acne problem. Take the peel from an orange and let it dry out in the sun. Once it's dry, crush up the peel and mix it with water to form a paste. Apply the paste to your pimples for about ten minutes before washing it off.

6. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera can be used for a variety of different skin problems, and acne is no exception. You can find aloe vera gel at most pharmacies. Simply apply the gel to your skin twice each day to heal your pimples.

7. Baking Soda

Baking soda can be great for cleaning the skin and removing pimples. Mix the baking soda with water to make a paste and apply it to your face. Wash after just two minutes for best results. If you have success with the lemon juice method, you can even combine the two methods for quicker results; just use lemon juice with the baking soda to make a paste instead of using water.

8. Cucumbers

Not only can cucumbers help get rid of your acne, but they can also cool the skin and give you relief from itching and pain. You can rub a cucumber slice on your face if you like, but an easier method is to soak a sliced cucumber in water for about an hour. Remove the cucumber slices and use the water to wash your face.

9. Steam

Steam opens your pores, allowing trapped oils and bacteria to leave your skin. All you have to do for this method is fill a container with steaming hot water and hold your face over it for several minutes. Then, wash your face with warm water and dry thoroughly.

Whether you have one problem pimple or a face full of acne, you have lots of different options for getting rid of the unsightly bumps. While not all of these will work for any given person, you will probably find some that work for you if you try them all! Don't feel controlled by your pimples any longer; try these simple home remedies!

However, if you don't get the results you would like with these home remedies, medicine prescribed by a dermatologist can help. Check it out if you'd like to learn more about the treatments offered by dermatologists.
